Assocham, the leading industry body of India, has stated that at present the total worth of the Indian watch industry is INR 5 thousand crore. The study reveals that a portion of the regular customers of the industry look for factors like good prices and durability while on the other hand other buyers want their watches to be fashionable, high end, trendy, and sophisticated.

It has been also learnt from the study that the watches within the INR 500 to INR 5000 price range enjoy the maximum sales and are followed by watches priced between INR 5000 and INR 25000.

The local manufacturers are facing stiff competition from the international brands that are arriving in great numbers to cater to the increasing demand. However, the study states that the local companies will always perform well thanks to reasonable pricing and proper base of manufacturing.

The Assocham study reveals that the market size of the country’s watch industry is expected to touch the INR 15 thousand crore mark by 2020. The major factors behind this rise are increasing levels of consumerism and income.

DS Rawat, the General Secretary of Ass0cham, has stated the immense popularity for watches among youth will also play a major role in the industry’s growth in years to come.
