A Brief Note on Nestle India

Nestle India was established in the year 1912 when the parent company started its operations as the Nestle Anglo-Swiss Condensed Milk Company (Export) Limited in India. During that time, the company was involved in importing and selling finished products in the domestic market. Nestle has been one of the most significant contributor in the growth of Indian economy for more than 9 decades. Nestle India has been generating employment opportunities among the youths in India ever since its inception. Around one million inhabitants of India, which comprise of farmers as well as suppliers of packaging materials, services and other goods, earn their livelihood from Nestle India. Nestle India is a subsidiary unit of Nestle S.A. of Switzerland and has seven factories in India.

Financial Statement of Nestle India during 2006-07-

• The net profit of Nestle India increased from ` 810.3 million for the last quarter of June 2006 to ` 956.9 million for the last quarter June 2007 registering a growth of 18.09%.


• The net sales was increased from ` 6,811.8 million for the quarter ended June 2006 to ` 8,388.8 million for the quarter ended June 2007 which accounted for a growth of 23.15%


• The total income of the company increased from ` 6855.9 million for the quarter ended June 2006 to ` 8420.6 million for the quarter ended June 2007 registering a growth of 22.82%


• The earnings per share of Nestle India was estimated to be around ` 9.92 for the quarter ended June 2007
