State Bank of Patiala is an Indian bank. The bank is nationalized and operates under the State Bank of India (SBI) umbrella. State Bank of Patiala is an associate bank of SBI. Shri O.P Bhatt is the Chairman.
History
State Bank of Patiala in India was founded in 1917. The initial name of the bank was Patiala State Bank. The founder was the then Maharaja of Patiala State, His Highness Bhupinder Singh. The first branch of Patiala State Bank was in Chowk Fort, Patiala. Patiala State Bank was set up with a view to catalyze the growth of trade, agriculture, and industry. The bank was bought under the control of Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in 1948.
Post Indian Independence
Patiala State Bank became State Bank of Patiala after becoming a subsidiary of State Bank of India on April 1, 1960. State Bank of Patiala is now a fully modern bank with all bank branches fully computerized. There are 766 branches of the bank distributed all over India. Total income disclosed by the bank in the Financial Year 2006 to 2007 is Rs. 3507.35 crores. Net profit was computed to be Rs.366.53 crores.
