State Bank of Travancore
State Bank of Travancore is an Indian bank with corporate headquarters in Trivandrum, Kerala state, India. The bank is an associate bank of the State Bank of India group. State Bank of Travancore in India has a nationwide presence of more than 700 branches supplemented by 331 ATMs all over the Indian Republic. The bank employs more than 11,000 personnel. Total business circa 2007 was Rs. 59734 crores.
Early Years
State Bank of Travancore was established in 1945. The bank was initially named Travancore Bank Limited. It was found by the Maharaja of the Princely State of Travancore. The growth of the bank in its early years were due to the bank's amalgamation with then existent banks like Kottayam Orient Bank, The Latin Christian Bank, and Bank of New India.
A Nationalized Bank
State Bank of Travancore follows Indian Government directives for social development. Priority sectors like agriculture and Small Scale Industry (SSI) are given preference when given loans. More than 40% of the credit offered by the bank is to the priority sector.
State Bank of Travancore is also an active participant of special financial schemes instituted by the Government of India. Special government schemes like Women Empowerment Scheme and Prime Ministers Rozgar Yojana (PMRY) are aimed at providing self-employment to the poor inhabiting urban areas.

State Bank of Travancore also caters to Non Resident Indians (NRIs). NRIs in the Gulf enjoy the facility of SMS alerts for any bank transaction done from their account. Zero balance NRE accounts are available for customers who are first time international travelers.
