The full form of IFSC code is Indian Financial System Code.

The IFSC code is a set of eleven characters assigned by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), which helps to uniquely identify the branch of every bank. The first four characters of IFSC Code represent the bank. The next character is zero (0) that is reserved for the future use and the remaining six characters are the code of the branch.

What is MICR code and what is its full form?


The full form of MICR Code is Magnetic Ink Character Recognition.

It is a 9 digit code which is printed at the bottom of a cheque. MICR Code is also important in order to carry online transactions. Every branch of a bank has its own MICR Code. The first three digits of MICR Code represent the city (City Code). They are aligned with the PIN code we use for postal addresses in India. The next 3 digits represent the bank (Bank Code) and the last 3 digits represent the branch (Branch Code).
