Methylemines
Methylemines is an important part of theIndian petrochemical industry for they are the chemical intermediates. Being a chemical intermediate, methylemines is processed further in order to get various kinds of chemicals. Methylemines is produced by reacting methanol with ammonia and this reaction takes place when a catalyst is present.
The industry of methylemines requires a large amount of capital investment for it is technology intensive industry. That is the reason that methylemines industry is largely dominated by PSUs and private companies. Methylemines is a gas which is highly inflammable and so it have to be carefully handled all the time. From the first stage that is the production to transport and then to the use of methylemines.
Methylemines being a chemical intermediate the demand is dependent to a very large extend on the user end industry. In the recent years sales of methylemines have registered a down fall and as a result the industry is suffering from a built up capacity which is extra.
The price of methylemines is dependent on the international market which is highly volatile. Methylemines is sold through the distribution channels which consist of dealers and stockists. And they address the smaller retail markets. Large quantities of methylemines are also sold directly to OEMs.
The various kinds of methylemines are:
- Monomethylamine (MMA)
- Trimethylamine (TMA)
- Dimethylamine (DMA)
- Choline chloride
- Dithiocarbamates
The various uses of methylemines are:
- Explosives
- Pharmaceuticals
- Detergents
- Feed additives
- Paper and pulp processing
The companies producing methylemines inIndia are:
- Balaji Amines Pvt. Ltd.
- Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers Pvt. Ltd.
- Deepak Fertilizers and Petrochemicals Corporation Pvt. Ltd.
The methylemines's industry has not registered growth in the last few years. Efforts must be taken by the government ofIndia and the petrochemical industry ofIndia so that this vital industry registers impressive growth in the coming years.
